Job Summary
Procure products within assigned planner and commodity areas in a timely, cost-effective manner while maintaining and developing supplier relations. Identify long lead times by utilizing material strategies, review daily MRP exceptions and purchase order statuses, and resolve material price variances. Develop alternate sources to reduce the supplier base, negotiate best prices and value, and administer purchase agreements involving confidential information. Evaluate supplier performance on quality and delivery, conduct Quarterly Business Reviews, and provide training to junior buyers.
Required Qualifications
- electronics manufacturing industry experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Minimum 7 years of progressive relevant job experience
- Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Intermediate knowledge of the laws of purchasing
- Intermediate MRP skills
- Ability to understand industry commodity trends
- Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong math and computational skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in all forms with others inside and outside the organization
- Ability to negotiate professionally
- Ability to problem solve issues involving multiple variables and limited standardization
- Ability to multitask effectively and adapt within a rapidly changing environment
