Sr. Staff Engineer, Renewable Engineering (Solar)

Job Summary
Utilize performance modeling software including PVSyst and SAM to prepare energy production estimates and analyze meteorological datasets to assess project resource characteristics. Prepare conceptual project layouts using CAD and GIS software, optimize designs to maximize value, and conduct site visits for evaluation and due diligence. Interface with OEMs for technical information, support permitting efforts, and assist development teams with sales proposals and lender due diligence responses. Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach, and construction meetings while ensuring timely transfer of technical responsibilities to operations teams. Work on-site in downtown Chicago, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline including but not limited to, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, and Environmental Science
- 3-5 years in the renewable energy industry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
- This position is on-site at Invenergy's office in downtown Chicago, IL
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in an engineering or other relevant science discipline is a plus
- Familiarity with energy modeling software including PVSyst, and SAM
- Knowledge of meteorological data sources, MCP methods, and other statistical analysis
- Experience with modeling energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE
- Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
- Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest in renewable energy
- Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds
