Sr. Staff Engineer - HL7

Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain HL7 interfaces (v2.x, v3, CDA, FHIR) between healthcare systems; build integrations with EHR/EMR (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts); configure integration engines (Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf); analyze, transform, and map healthcare data formats; troubleshoot interface issues; implement data validation, error handling, and logging; ensure HIPAA compliance; collaborate with clinical/technical/vendor teams to define integration requirements; support real-time and batch data exchange; maintain documentation for interfaces, mappings, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare IT, interface development, or systems integration
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x, HL7 FHIR, X12, or other healthcare messaging standards
- Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.)
- Experience with FHIR APIs and modern interoperability frameworks
- Hands-on experience with integration engines (Mirth Connect preferred)
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages
- Experience with XML, JSON, and RESTful APIs
