Job Summary
Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer responsible for owning the firmware development lifecycle for multi-chip package systems, driving embedded firmware design from inception to customer deployment, and ensuring hardware validation is integrated. Collaborates closely with analog/mixed-signal, digital, and photonic designers to develop control algorithms for photonic circuits and to establish micro-architecture and embedded requirements. Provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and partners with hardware, software, validation, and systems engineers to achieve project goals. Required experience includes bare-metal embedded firmware development in C for multiple microcontrollers, silicon bring-up, high-speed SerDes, Python scripting, Make-based builds, and familiarity with Git, JIRA, CI/CD tools, and hardware-software collaboration in a fast-paced startup environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience
- Proven expertise in bare-metal embedded firmware development
- Strong programming skills in C
- Hands-on, proactive approach in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience with various microcontrollers and firmware debugging tools
- Experience estimating memory and CPU clock rate requirements
- Proficiency with modern version control workflows (e.g., Git)
- Familiarity with project management tools (JIRA), and CI/CD tools
- Ability to own architecture and development of firmware modules from scratch
- Silicon bring-up experience
- Experience in scripting with a high level language like Python
- Experience with Make-based build flows
