Job Summary
Manage an inventory of diverse insurance defense matters from inception through trial or other resolution, including auto and general liability cases. Analyze substantive and procedural issues, conduct legal research, and develop defense strategies while drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions. Take and defend depositions, work with experts, and represent clients at trials, hearings, and ADR proceedings. Provide liability and damages evaluations to Claims partners and advise insureds directly. Drive prompt case disposition while maintaining high quality and customer service. This remote position requires a California resident with 7+ years of litigation experience to handle a target caseload of 50-55 files.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Domicile and active license to practice in California
- Ability to appear in applicable local state and federal courts
- Member in good standing of the applicable Bar Association
- 7 years of relevant litigation experience
- Experience in insurance defense
- Experience in complex tort matters
- Strong legal writing skills
- Strong research skills
- Persuasive advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a caseload independently
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Sound judgment
- Strong familiarity with Southern California courts
- Familiarity with Southern California local practices
- Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment
- Currently residing in California
- Ability to work remotely
- Ability to travel within the Southern California territory
- Primary focus on the Greater Los Angeles and surrounding regions
Desired Qualifications
- Documented first-chair jury trial experience
- Appellate experience
