Job Summary
Design, build, and scale Gusto's AI platform to empower internal teams with intelligent agents and customer-value experiences. Own the full lifecycle from problem framing to production deployment, including agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, eval tooling, model serving, prompt management, observability, and safety guardrails. Lead architectural direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product teams to unblock AI needs. Maintain platform reliability, performance, and adoption; stay current with AI/ML research and prototype production-ready techniques; communicate strategy and impact to executives and non-technical partners.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years building and deploying end-to-end AI/ML systems
- experience designing platform-level infrastructure
- hands-on experience with LLMs/nlp/retrieval/RAG
- proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face
- cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- strong Python skills and software engineering fundamentals
- proven track record shipping AI/ML projects to production
- leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Ph.D. or Master's in CS/ML/Statistics/Mathematics is a plus
