Job Summary
Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable platform solutions on AWS. Responsibilities include monitoring, managing and optimising cloud-based resources; feeding engineering insight into Strategy and Architecture; documenting procedures; implementing CI/CD automation; collaborating with development teams to facilitate deployment and operation of systems. Key skills include AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform), Jenkins pipelines, Python scripting, Linux, and Chef, with strong collaboration across engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum - Experience as a Senior Platform Engineer including a solid understanding of software engineering principles and their application.
- Experience of Scripting and pipeline automation (e.g. Jenkins and GitHub Actions).
- Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Essential - Experience of working closely with development and infrastructure teams to quickly understand requirements and implement solutions.
- Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery.
- Ability to cooperate closely with both engineers and product teams — including designers, product managers, and analysts.
- Hands on CloudFormation scripting, troubleshooting and debugging
- Working knowledge of Chef, scripting and troubleshooting
- Experience with Python scripting and troubleshooting
- Experience with Jenkins pipelines (multibranch), deployments, groovy scripting
- Experience with Linux commands and knowledge of troubleshooting web services
- Experience with AWS services – EC2, NLB, API Gateway, ASG, etc.
