Job Summary
Lead and manage a team of three software developers, overseeing the full software development lifecycle from architecture and design through testing, deployment, and sustaining. Provide hands-on technical guidance, code reviews, and troubleshooting support while establishing priorities, allocating resources, and managing timelines to ensure compliant delivery. Drive software architecture, development processes, and quality improvements, ensuring documentation meets applicable regulatory and quality requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and support production issues across new and mature projects. Mentor team members to foster accountability and technical excellence within a highly regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of software development experience, ideally within a regulated industry
- 3–5 years of experience managing and leading software engineering teams
- Strong hands-on development experience with C#, C++, WPF, MVC, and .NET
- Experience with software architecture, system design, integration, code reviews, testing, and deployment
- Experience with Git/GitLab, CI/CD, and modern software development practices
- Experience developing software in Windows and/or Linux environments
- Strong understanding of software quality, testing, documentation, and regulated development environments
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and people-management skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, project roadmaps, timelines, and resources
Desired Qualifications
- Strong preference for candidates with medical device experience; experience in aerospace or another highly regulated industry may also be considered
- Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, ISO 14971, or similar regulatory standards
- Familiarity with medical device regulations, including Health Canada, FDA, or EMA requirements
- Experience with embedded software
- Familiarity with DICOM or medical imaging systems
- Experience with Avalonia is an asset
