Sr. Software Engineer, LogScale Search (Hybrid)

Job Summary
Develop new features and improve existing functionality for the LogScale Search backend in Scala, handling over 100 PB of daily event data and millions of hourly queries. Own end-to-end delivery from ideation through deployment, ensuring high availability, scalability, and stability for automated detection and response use cases. Lead by example through code reviews, pairing, and design reviews while monitoring production features via dashboards and troubleshooting critical customer issues. Collaborate across teams to define solutions and improve internal documentation, maintaining a focus on operational excellence and hands-on support for distributed systems.
Required Qualifications
- A passion for or personal interest in distributed systems
- Curiosity of how running systems are doing
- Experience in software development
- Ability to juggle making pragmatic tradeoffs between short-time delivery needs vs long-term product goals
- Experience in contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services
- Fluency in both functional and object oriented programming
- Ability to pick up new languages on the go

- Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions

- Must bring excellent verbal and written communication skills
- This role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site at one of the posted locations
- This role will require the candidate to periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint check(s) consistent with government customer requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience programming in Scala
- Experience with commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with Kafka
- Hands on experience in large-scale (distributed) system architecture, high scalability and availability, and optimization - over 1 trillion requests per day or more than 10 PB of data per day
- Exposure to or experience with Log Management or cybersecurity products
