Job Summary
Senior backend engineer on the NT Connect team building API-based broker integrations and trading infrastructure. Design, develop, and maintain backend services powering the NT Connect brokerage API platform; architect RESTful and WebSocket APIs for partner integrations; deploy in Kubernetes/GCP with emphasis on availability and observability; implement monitoring, logging, and alerting; collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet partner requirements and compliance; uphold engineering quality via code reviews, tests, CI/CD, and incident response; guide architectural decisions and roadmap; leverage AI coding agents to accelerate delivery and improve productivity. Requires 8+ years in backend/distributed systems, JVM languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala), API design, Kubernetes/GCP, security best practices, and strong communication. Bonus points for fintech/trading familiarity and AI tooling usage.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience with distributed, backend systems
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong proficiency in one or more JVM-based languages (Scala, Java, or Kotlin)
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and WebSocket services for external partners or B2B platforms
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP)
- Deep understanding of modern distributed systems and ability to troubleshoot across the full stack (HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS)
- Strong understanding of security best practices for exposed APIs and backend services: authentication, authorization, data isolation, encryption, and audit logging
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to own projects end-to-end
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated use of AI coding agents and tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
