Job Summary
Develop a highly reliable, scalable enterprise data platform to ingest, process, store, and query petabyte-scale data. Create end-to-end data pipelines that improve SpaceX's operational efficiency and build prototypes to validate design concepts and quantify technical constraints. Collaborate on architecture, design, and code reviews while owning all aspects of software engineering and product development. Deep dive into business problems to apply first principles thinking and find efficient solutions. Full ownership of challenging problems with a team of enthusiastic engineers. Willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or scientific discipline
- 7+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience in full stack development, software engineering, data engineering, or data science
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- U.S. citizen or national
- U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder)
- Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157
- Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158
- Eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Desired Qualifications
- Programming experience in Scala, Java, C#, Python, Go or similar languages
- Frontend experience in Angular, React, or similar JavaScript frameworks
- Experience optimizing in-stream, big data processing and analytics frameworks like Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink, or similar
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data lakes e.g. Hive, Delta Lake, PostgreSQL, CockroachDB or similar
- Experience with data exploration tools like Grafana, Metabase, PowerBI or similar
- Good understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment and monitoring
- Good understanding of statistics, machine learning algorithms and frameworks
