Job Summary
Senior Backend Engineer at Revionics (an Aptos company) focusing on building and operating the backend services powering our AI-enabled agent platform. Own overall system design, architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance of end-to-end AI-driven systems. Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and colleagues to refine APIs, orchestration logic, and data pipelines; drive API productization practices and developer tooling. Leverage cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), microservices, event-driven patterns, and container orchestration to deliver highly scalable backend services managing asynchronous agentic tasks. Bring 5+ years of Node.js (NestJS, Typescript) experience, strong software engineering fundamentals, and a security-conscious, test-first mindset while contributing to a fast-moving, collaborative, agile environment. Nice-to-have: LangChain, LlamaIndex familiarity and broader AI tooling usage (Claude Code) to accelerate development. The role emphasizes ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and ongoing improvement of the tech stack and processes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering including building scalable cloud-native systems and strong proficiency in microservices architecture
- Deep understanding and application of decoupled architecture and CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, design patterns)
- Proven experience designing and building backend systems for AI-powered applications, including integration with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Deep understanding of designing and implementing complex, long-running asynchronous workflows and state management for agentic systems
- Experience externalizing APIs and agent capabilities — including headless API design, MCP server development, or A2A protocol integration — for consumption by external customers and third-party systems
- Familiarity with API productization practices: usage metering and quota tracking, versioning strategies, and developer portal tooling (e.g. Apigee, Backstage, or equivalent)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), with GCP experience preferred (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub)
- 5+ years of Node.js experience (NestJS Framework, Typescript)
- High proficiency with TypeScript (generics, classes, interfaces, etc)
- Experience writing event-driven and asynchronous applications
- Experience with Relational and NoSql databases
- Experience in containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience enabling CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Gitlab
- Proficient in Unit Testing and use of mocking frameworks, with a Test First mindset
- Security-first mindset and working within security boundaries with tooling such as SAST and SCA
- Experience working within small agile teams and leading the agile process in ceremonies and story grooming
- Proficient in using AI tooling in day-to-day work (e.g., Claude Code) to aid coding, documentation, and architecture
- Demonstrated ownership, collaboration, and clear communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and advocate for scalable, maintainable architectural decisions
