Job Summary
Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles. Independently determine parts requirements, prioritize concurrent tasks, and assist or mentor Shop Diesel Technicians I and II with complex repairs and triage. Conduct daily pre/post trip inspections on service trucks, document findings on Repair Orders, and communicate with the Shop Manager to approve estimates. Maintain a safe work environment while adhering to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5 years' experience in a related field
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months
- Successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening
- Pass a DOT physical prior to employment
- Hold a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration
- Be at least 21 years or older
- Hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license
- Be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
- Be able to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
- Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
- Communicates information in a succinct and organized manner
- Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups
- Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
- Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
- Clear a pre-employment drug test
- Be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years' experience
- 7 years' experience in a related field
- ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) certification
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification
- ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
- ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification
- ASE T7 (HVAC) certification
- ASE A8 (Engine Performance) certification
- ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist) certification
- ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist) certification
