Job Summary
Prepare and review complex account reconciliations supporting the Flow Lending subledger-to-general ledger process, including journal entries and supporting schedules. Perform detailed variance analysis to identify drivers of fluctuations and partner with operations and finance teams to resolve complex discrepancies. Apply accounting policies to routine and moderately complex transactions while preparing audit support documentation and implementing process improvements. Provide guidance to junior team members and utilize Excel and reporting tools for portfolio analysis. Requires strong analytical capabilities, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to operate independently within a deadline-driven environment. This role impacts the Flow Lending portfolio, including consumer installment loans originated through strategic partner relationships or purchased from lending partners.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting fundamentals
- Ability to apply accounting principles to moderately complex transactions and scenarios
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and accrual-based accounting
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex accounting issues, including identifying root causes and recommending solutions
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with loan accounting, installment lending, or consumer finance portfolios
- Experience in subledger-driven or high-volume accounting environments
- Familiarity with interest income recognition, amortization, deferred fees, and loan lifecycle concepts
- Experience supporting close processes in a business line or divisional accounting structure
- Experience improving reconciliation processes, close timelines, or reporting accuracy
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Background in financial services, fintech, banking, or lending organizations
- Experience reviewing work or providing guidance to junior team members
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy, completeness, and accountability for results
- Strong execution discipline with the ability to independently manage close and reconciliation responsibilities
- Ability to perform financial analysis, interpret results, and communicate key drivers of variances
- Ability to collaborate effectively across accounting, operations, and finance teams and influence outcomes
- Continuous learning mindset with a proactive approach to developing expertise and improving processes
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to handle moderately complex issues
