Job Summary
Sr. Service Engineer to support Supermicro's Global Service network. Role requires flexible hours including nights/weekends and travel to customer sites (up to 25%) to provide technical solutions and support for hardware/software challenges in data center and call center environments. Responsibilities include on-site and remote troubleshooting of Supermicro equipment in enterprise environments, driving customer satisfaction, owning regular maintenance under Technical Account Manager direction, coordinating with contractors/distributors, performing tests and simulations, generating meaningful reports/metrics, and ensuring timely escalation (L2) as needed. Requires strong customer-facing communication, experience with X86 server hardware, BIOS/drivers/application loads diagnosis, Linux/Windows familiarity, and the ability to work in fast-paced settings with cross-functional teams. Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or an equivalent degree with 8+ years of related experience (or an Associate’s degree plus equivalent experience) is required; travel up to 25% and ability to lift 50 lbs are also expected.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in servicing complex X86 systems and parts
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering or Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent discipline plus relevant experience
- Ability to work in a challenging, dynamic environment; proactive in driving solutions
- Hands-on experience with Enterprise grade server hardware
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift/carry at least 50 lbs
- On-site and remote troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems on Supermicro equipment in an enterprise environment
- Familiarity with Linux preferred; Windows/Linux environment certification preferred
- Experience in customer support and being able to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to participate in multiple cross-functional projects concurrently
- Demonstrated hardware system diagnostics skills including BIOS and driver interactions
- Must be punctual and detail-oriented
- Ability to produce meaningful reports and metrics
- Strong technical communication skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
- Travel up to 25%
