Job Summary
Oversee design serviceability for low-voltage electrical systems on new vehicle programs by influencing cross-functional teams to incorporate service standards. Develop new and existing standards, define service part BoM strategies for electronic control modules and wire harnesses, and drive these requirements into engineering development. Review engineering change proposals to identify impacts on service parts and tools, then verify that repairs and field action instructions can be performed accurately by technicians. Collaborate with service tool engineering, diagnostic engineering, and training to enable successful vehicle repairs, while ensuring service procedures are properly applied in the field. Identify and escalate emerging concerns through a closed-loop issue resolution system and track serviceability metrics to implement continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- BS in a relevant engineering discipline
- Five years' low voltage electrical engineering experience in the automotive or comparable industry
- Ability to work with various interpersonal and communication styles, to effectively define and resolve issues with cross-functional teams in a technology-focused environment
- Proven success championing feature or attribute requirements in a complex, design-focused environment
- Established analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an intuition for overcoming challenges which are unusual and complex
- Capable of considering the big picture at all times, with the ability to zoom into issues when needed
- Ability to travel 5-10% as required
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8-10 hours per day
- Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail
- Ability to view, read, and interpret documents
- Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing or servicing automotive electrical hardware, is strongly preferred
- A proven track record of exemplary organization, is preferred
