Sr. Roadway Design Engineer

Job Summary
Design, analyze, and evaluate roadways for new constructions, widening, and rehabilitation projects in accordance with NCDOT standards. Lead roadway design and analysis projects, review subcontractor plans, and coordinate with public agencies for approvals. Prepare technical reports and drawings, conduct field inspections of existing conditions, and troubleshoot construction issues. Mentor junior engineers and ensure projects meet budgetary and scheduling constraints while maintaining knowledge of state DOT policies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and institutions to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- P.E. licensure in North Carolina
- Extensive experience in roadway engineering, with a focus on NCDOT projects
- Strong knowledge of NCDOT design standards, specifications, and procedures
- Proficiency in roadway design software - Civil 3D, OpenRoad Designer, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree (MSCE) preferred but not required
- Experience with ORD and plan development
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
