Sr. Revenue Accountant / Revenue Accounting Lead
$110,000–$110,000 year
HybridSan Francisco, California, United States
Job Summary
Own and execute the monthly revenue close process, including contracts review, SSP analysis, and multi-element arrangement accounting under ASC 606. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses with clear audit trails while partnering with DealOps on pre-execution contract reviews. Maintain SOX-ready internal controls, lead external auditor coordination, and drive process improvements to reduce cycle time and eliminate manual work. Build automated revenue schedules and reporting tools using Excel and AI, ensuring accurate data flows into NetSuite. Prepare executive-ready variance analyses and act as a trusted partner to FP&A, Legal, and Product teams. Mentor junior members and surface revenue risks before they become audit findings.
Required Qualifications
- 4-6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience
- demonstrated ownership of ASC 606 in a SaaS or software environment
- Experience in both private and public companies (or public-ready / Big 4-audited) settings
- Hands-on expertise with month-end close ownership and audit process
- Strong working knowledge of internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit coordination
- Proven track record of managing multiple competing deliverables and ruthlessly prioritizing focus in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
- experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or comparable ERP/CRM systems
- CPA license plus (active or inactive)
- You identify root causes, not just symptoms — when a number looks off, you dig until you find why
- You can translate complex technical accounting conclusions into plain-language memos and policy documents that non-accountants can act on
- You proactively surface revenue risks and quantify their impact before they become audit findings
- You don't accept 'that's how we've always done it' — you look for leverage through automation, standardization, and better data flows
- You have built or meaningfully improved a revenue close process: documented the steps, found the bottlenecks, and shipped the fix
- You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment
- Ideally we would like someone to work Hybrid from the Bay Area but we will consider qualified candidates we are remote within the US
Desired Qualifications
- Big 4 public accounting background with technology sector clients
- Experience through an IPO, M&A transaction, or significant systems implementation
- Familiarity with revenue automation tools (Zuora Revenue, RevPro, or NetSuite ARM)
- Exposure to usage-based / consumption based models
- Savvy on AI tools to build automated workflows
