Senior R&D Engineer (Sr Research Scientist) at Kostas Research Institute, Northeastern University, focusing on ML/AI-enabled software systems for autonomous systems, sensing, communication, and decision-support. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or closely related field
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with machine learning/AI systems development
- Strong proficiency in Python; experience with C++ and/or Java a plus
- Experience designing, implementing, and testing end-to-end ML/AI software systems
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch)
- Experience with HPC or GPU-accelerated environments
- Experience with relational and graph databases (PostgreSQL, Neo4j/Memgraph)
- Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure/AWS GovCloud) and containerized ML workflows
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (version control, testing, documentation)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. Citizenship)
- Desirable: experience with RAG architectures, graph analytics, geospatial analytics, and ML model operationalization
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
