Job Summary

Oversee application, implementation, and evaluation of complex multi-year, multi-site research projects while coordinating staff, faculty, and consultants across university levels. Convene project teams to develop work plans, study designs, and analysis strategies, then prepare budgets and manage grant expenditures with the department administrator. Directly supervise research project directors and coordinators, hire per diem staff, and evaluate performance. Liaise with local agencies, state Department of Public Health, and federal health agencies for funding and reporting, including managing annual site visits. Write scientific papers describing research results and coordinate communications between on-site and sub-award principal investigators. Work full-time in the Department of Infectious Diseases/HIV Clinic at UMass Memorial Hospital, providing functional supervision to ensure clinic operations meet patient needs and funding agency standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a health policy related health care field
  • 7 years' experience in developing, implementing and evaluating research programs, including significant experience in project management, supervision of staff and fiscal responsibility, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of supervision and coordination of complex, federally funded, multi-site research projects in an academic setting
  • Communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, to interact with faculty, staff, and investigators and to produce reports suitable for an academic audience
