Job Summary
Sr Research Associate in Upstream in vivo Antibody Discovery responsible for wet-lab benchwork (mammalian cell culture, hybridoma fusions, Beacon-based single B cell screening), coordinating with Antibody Characterization and Protein Analytics teams to support antibody discovery projects from cell culture through transient protein production, purification, downstream assays (SPR, BLI, developability), data analysis, and deliverables. Role involves cross-functional communication to manage timelines, running multiple antibody discovery projects, drafting reports, ensuring data integrity and ethics, and assisting with automation integration to increase capacity while maintaining scientific excellence. Located at Twist Bioscience in Quincy, MA.
Required Qualifications
- BS in a life sciences or technical field with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years of experience in antibody discovery workflows
- In Vivo Discovery Techniques: strong foundational knowledge of in vivo immunization concepts, hybridoma fusions/culture, and single B cell screening techniques
- Hands-on Wet Lab Experience: mammalian cell culture and transient transfections
- High-Throughput Assays: experience managing high-throughput assays (thousands of samples)
- Data & Project Management: ability to analyze complex data, troubleshoot under tight timelines, prioritize tasks across concurrent projects
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; update managers and cross-functional teams on status, risks, and deliverables
- Single B Cell Platforms: direct experience with Beacon single B cell techniques
- Biologics Characterization: familiarity with downstream characterization tools (Carterra SPR, Octet BLI) and developability assays (HPLC, high-throughput plate formats)
- Standard Assays: ELISA, SDS-PAGE, protein quantification, endotoxin assays
- Automation: experience or interest in laboratory automation to boost capacity
