Sr R&D Engineer - Testing

Job Summary
Senior R&D Engineer focused on testing for ABB's DCS/Process Automation Platform. Lead the testing effort across software/product/solution development, define and own the overall test strategy, develop and execute test cases, and collaborate with Product Owner and Development teams to deliver high-quality products within schedule/budget. Requires experience in manual and automated testing, Kubernetes-based deployments (edge computing), Linux fundamentals, and building/maintaining test scripts/frameworks in Python or Go. Familiarity with CI/CD integrations (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), lightweight edge Kubernetes (K3s, MicroShift), Helm charts, and performance benchmarking; ability to validate Kubernetes APIs and containerized workloads and contribute to end-to-end verification and validation efforts. The role operates in a hybrid work model in Bangalore, reporting to the Head of Engineering.
Required Qualifications
- BE in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Automation or MCA
- 6+ years of experience in verification and validation of containerized applications within Linux environments
- Experience with edge computing and Kubernetes-based deployments
- End-to-end test planning, test case development, and test strategy ownership
- Familiarity with manual and automation testing using Python or Go
- CI/CD pipeline integration (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for test automation
- Experience with Kubernetes clusters and lightweight/edge-optimized distributions (K3s, MicroShift)
- Knowledge of Linux fundamentals (kernel tuning, filesystems, networking, process/resource management)
- Experience with Helm charts and persistent storage
- Strong collaboration with Product Owner and Development teams for scope and estimates
- Ability to test Kubernetes APIs, cluster behavior, and containerized workloads
- Performance benchmarking to evaluate scalability
- Hands-on automation scripting and framework development
