Sr. Project Manager (Construction)

Job Summary

Resolve complex construction project disputes and assess change order impacts on the district. Develop, assign, and monitor performance of OARs relative to assigned projects while reviewing status against submitted schedules. Review bid specifications for District needs and probability of completion, then verify submitted applications for payment to perform fiscal management of multiple construction projects. Provide functional direction over construction project schedules, cost control, contract administration, and quality control. Coordinate program activities with organizational branches including Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Technical Support, and local districts. Participate in project risk assessments to identify impacts. This role supports the Education and Facilities Sector at a college construction bond operations level, requiring onsite interaction with Campus leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may be substituted for the required education
  • 15 years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience
  • 5 years of experience in managing large programs with projects having construction values in excess of $60 million (not cumulative)
  • 5 years' experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California)
  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience or educational courses in business administration, public relations, accounting, finance, personnel management, and communication
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
  • Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes
