Sr. Project Engineer

Job Summary
Lead planning, coordination, construction, cost control, and execution of capital projects from concept through startup within a multidisciplinary engineering team. Support and actively participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives while supervising contractors to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and site requirements. Define project scopes, develop schedules and resource plans, and manage project funds by forecasting cash flow monthly and communicating variances. Monitor progress, identify risks, and adjust plans as needed, while leading the Management of Change process and turnaround activities. This safety-sensitive role requires onsite work and reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Five or more years of experience executing capital projects in a chemical plant, refinery, or similar industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from scope development through implementation, including cost, schedule, contractor coordination, and field execution
- Working knowledge of engineering standards, construction practices, safety requirements, and Management of Change processes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, engineering, and other functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with SAP, project controls, or chemical manufacturing turnaround planning and execution is preferred
- Project Management Professional certification is preferred
