Sr. Project Accountant & Financial Systems Analyst

Job Summary
Senior-level role combining project accounting and financial data systems stewardship. Responsibilities include tracking project costs, budgets, and revenue throughout project lifecycles; preparing and maintaining project financial reports and variance analyses; supporting monthly revenue recognition and WIP analyses; reconciling project-related accounts; assisting with billing tied to milestones; maintaining audit trails. Also serve as the primary functional owner of financial data quality within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central; validate master data, project setups, and posting structures; write SQL queries to support data validation and ad hoc analysis; build Power BI dashboards providing real-time project financial visibility; identify data integrity gaps across Business Central, Power BI, and SQL reporting; develop data governance procedures; collaborate with IT and operations on integrations and automation; leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis and automate routine reporting; train finance and project teams on ERP usage and data integrity; monitor anomalies and resolve issues promptly; accommodations available for candidates; eligible to work in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience; CPA designation is considered an asset
- 5+ years of accounting experience in project-based environments (engineering, construction, manufacturing, or professional services)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (project setup, cost tracking, financial posting workflows, ERP master data management)
- Proficiency with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboard development)
- SQL query writing and interpretation
- Advanced Excel tools including Power Query, pivot tables, and financial modeling
- Experience using AI-powered tools (Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT or similar) to improve workflows
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate financial and technical concepts to non-finance stakeholders
- Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
- Experience in preparing project financial reports, revenue recognition, and WIP analyses
- Knowledge of data governance, data validation, and data integrity across ERP and BI systems
