Job Summary
The Sr. Production Underwriter at UFG will attract and underwrite middle market business, deploy account management, and foster relationships with agency partners. This role involves profitable underwriting of complex new and renewal business, marketing, achieving production goals, and mentoring team members. Responsibilities include risk analysis, pricing, setting terms, documenting underwriting processes, and effective stakeholder management. Candidates should have significant commercial underwriting experience and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years commercial lines underwriting experience preferred.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of or working towards AU, CIC and/or CPCU designations preferred.
- Advanced risk evaluation skills and insurance contract knowledge.
- Strong leadership skillset to include ability to mentor, coach, and train.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Effective stakeholder management skillset.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with an affinity for detailed accuracy.
- Advanced communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and effective dates.
- Advanced knowledge of agency force and current market environment.
- Excellent sales skills, with proven track record of growing a profitable book of business.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate should reside in one of the metropolitan areas within the Great Lakes Region, specifically Illinois or Indiana.
