Job Summary
Sr. Principal System Architect to define the technical direction for SONiC-based datacenter switch platforms, collaborating with customers, sales and product planning. Develop system architectures for datacenter switches running SONiC across hardware abstraction, control plane, management, and tooling. Mentor engineers, communicate architectural direction through specs and interfaces, and assess tradeoffs for cost, complexity, and schedule. Stay current on SONiC/OpenStack/OpenBMC-related initiatives and leverage open-source activities with inter-generation and cross-ASIC considerations. Lead architecture improvements, guide product development, and translate customer requirements into actionable engineering work with clear acceptance criteria.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years’ experience in switch design and engineering
- Capability to research and explore unfamiliar technologies with focus on feasibility and schedule impacts
- Proficiency in C++, Python, Git, CI/CD, and agile delivery
- Experience with SONiC architecture, switch platforms, and ASICs (Broadcom/Marvell)
- Knowledgeable about datacenter L2/L3 switching, routing (BGP, ECMP), overlays
- Familiarity with Linux kernel, device drivers, and server management
