Job Summary
Sr. Principal Medical Affairs Director, MRD leads medical and scientific strategy for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics MRD programs, guiding commercialization and regulatory efforts for molecular residual disease tests. Responsibilities include developing and executing commercialization strategies, providing oncology medical leadership across cross-functional teams, engaging with academic and clinical leaders, coordinating external advisory boards, reviewing and presenting study results, and ensuring medical support for on-market MRD products. The role requires MD/DO/PhD-level expertise in molecular oncology, fellowship training in oncology, strong cross-functional leadership, and ability to travel up to ~60% (based in Redwood City, CA or field-based). The position emphasizes collaboration with PLM/Strategy, regulatory/compliance, biostatistics, clinical affairs, and commercial teams, and adherence to the company’s quality and inclusion values.
Required Qualifications
- M.D., D.O., or Ph.D. in a related field as outlined in the essential duties
- Completion of fellowship training in oncology
- Demonstrated expertise in molecular oncology
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional internal and external teams of professionals focused on complex, multi-faceted projects
- Familiarity with laboratory analytical process development and biostatistics
- Strong communication skills; ability to create and maintain open, clear, and collaborative communication with internal stakeholders, senior management, external partners and customers, and key opinion leaders
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead internal and external collaborations
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and drive results with a high emphasis on quality
- Demonstrated ability to excel and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
