Job Summary
Sr Principal Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs in accordance with government and company requirements. Key duties include administering the internal EHS audit program, developing compliance policies and training programs, leading sector-wide EHS initiatives, collaborating with site teams, and representing the company in government and industry rule-making activities. Preferred qualifications emphasize MS/CIH/CSP credentials, manufacturing EHS experience, and strong data analytics capabilities with tools like Tableau/Power BI. Travel up to 25% is required. Primary salary range: $111,700–$185,000; relocation assistance is not offered; U.S. citizenship is required for government-related roles.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of experience with a bachelor’s in science degree; or 5 years of experience with a master’s degree; or 1 year of experience with a PhD
- Experience conducting EHS site inspections to ensure regulatory requirements are met
- Experience with data management platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, Cority)
- Experience in conducting worksite analysis and/or hazard prevention and control
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to Travel 25%
- Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or related field, or currently enrolled in MS program
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- EHS experience in manufacturing and Ammunition/Explosives environments
- Experience managing various EHS compliance programs (chemical safety/hygiene, ergonomics, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, incident investigations)
- Experience with oversight of third-party consultants/contractors
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Experience analyzing safety metrics and trends
- Experience in conducting training for crane, fall protection, and forklift operations
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience conducting engineer design reviews for general building manufacturing and production tooling
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Ability to perform job duties without direct supervision
