Sr Principal Architect, Payment Network Technology

Job Summary
Design and oversee payment network solutions, defining the target-state architecture across Gaia, AWS, and legacy systems to support secure, scalable, real-time payment processing. Architect and optimize core payment network processes (authorization, tokenization, VAS, disputes, fraud/risk, identity, settlement), ensure QA/UAT/performance environments support data conditioning, and enforce architectural standards with security, scalability, and regulatory compliance. Anticipate industry trends (real-time payments, AI/ML in fraud detection, blockchain), shape direction to enable Chase's long-term growth, and present architectural strategies to senior leadership. Build credibility with senior leaders, clients, regulators, and partners, and mentor future architects and engineers while driving adoption of emerging technologies. This role requires cloud-native expertise, ability to influence cross-functional teams globally, and a proactive approach to delivering resilient, compliant systems.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 7+ years applied experience
- Deep expertise in payment network processes: authorizations, tokenization, VAS, disputes, clearing, settlement, and fraud management
- Advanced knowledge of cloud architectures, distributed systems, security, and data management
- Strong understanding of global payment regulations, compliance, and risk management
- Demonstrated experience influencing and leading cross-functional teams in a global environment
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Extensive practical cloud native experience
