Job Summary
Sr Principal Mass Properties Engineer on the Vehicle Engineering team focusing on mass properties analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies to translate customer and derived mass property requirements into hardware/software specs. Responsibilities include establishing specs and target weights, maintaining mass properties accounting and reporting systems, supporting cost analyses, evaluating subcontractor proposals, reviewing drawings for mass properties control, measuring/weighting vehicle components to improve estimate accuracy, and providing data for flight manuals. Requires active DoD clearance, ability to obtain Top Secret clearance, and hands-on experience with mass properties, weight/balance analysis, and related tools (e.g., Siemens NX or CATIA). Travel up to 10%, relocation may be available, and prior experience with mass properties management programs and program milestones is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in STEM with 8 years experience OR Master of Science in STEM with 6 years experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret
- Mass properties and weight and balance analysis experience
- Knowledge of RP 7 & 8 (Society of Allied Weight Engineers)
- Experience with mass properties data, cost analyses, and reporting systems
- Experience with Siemens NX or CATIA
- Experience in vehicle design/manufacturing techniques
- Willingness to travel ~10%
