Job Summary

Direct the development, maintenance, and implementation of land use, housing, economic development, and sustainability plans and programs. Conduct planning studies, prepare grant applications for federal and state agencies, and coordinate with local land use departments to update comprehensive land-use plans and zoning codes. Develop recommendations to reduce urban sprawl, connect housing and employment, and mitigate commute times while ensuring compliance with the Open Meetings Act and FOIA. Represent the Region1 Planning Council to local governments and partner agencies, providing technical expertise on planning issues and managing complex projects under the general supervision of the Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master's degree in urban planning, political science, public administration, economics, or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibilities and experience with regional planning or project management
  • Annual completion of Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act training

Desired Qualifications

  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of a Bachelor's degree, experience, and training, which ensures the ability to perform the work
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
