Job Summary
Verify test requisitions against nursing station logs, obtain blood specimens via venipunctures and finger sticks, and maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique. Track collected specimens with daily tallies, resolve unusual test orders by contacting physicians or laboratories, and update job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional publications. Manage logistical tasks including printing patient reports, billing triage, and scheduling courier pickups. Maintain a safe work environment by complying with legal regulations and HIPAA/PHI privacy standards, completing required training within the first 30 days.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State)
- Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements
- Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire
- Ability to serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards
- Work in an office setting with scrubs required
