Job Summary
Sr Payroll Specialist responsible for ensuring accurate biweekly payroll processing, compliance with federal/state/local laws, and garnishment administration. Performs payroll data reconciliation and auditing, analyzes reports, calculates retro payments, collaborates with departments to identify over/underpayments, engages with federal/state agencies, and supports payroll cycle activities including garnishments, levies, manual checks, and timekeeping. Requires strong data analysis, attention to detail, and effective communication while managing multiple payroll activities and audits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Eight or more years’ experience in payroll administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word and attention to detail
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills
- Must have strong analytic skillset and be able to identify inconsistencies in data
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work on many different activities while meeting deadlines
- Ability to consistently and efficiently follow through on problems with other staff and customers
- Ability to recognize when issues need to be escalated to the supervisor
