Job Summary
Assess and improve current packaging operations by implementing new technologies, providing retrofits, and optimizing line efficiencies. Troubleshoot issues with suppliers to maintain quality and reduce scrap while developing procedures to minimize setup and changeover times. Conduct capacity studies, enhance system reliability, and lead capital projects for new equipment and testing. Serve as a technical liaison across production, maintenance, and corporate engineering teams to deliver training and standard procedures. Manage project budgets, schedules, and capital requests to ensure optimal production rates and safety compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Packaging improvement projects and working with packaging lines design and install
- Previous job experience in high-speed packaging
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a concentration in Packaging Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical or related engineering field from an accredited university
- Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas: Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations
- Continuous improvement
- Food science/chemistry or packaging science
- Statistics and analytical methods
- Process measurement and control
- Mechanical aptitude
- Troubleshooting
- Ability to understand and apply general engineering principles
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develops solutions, and quickly implements their strategy
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues
- Proficient skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Fundamental understanding of food standards, safety and sanitary regulations and good manufacturing practices
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Previous food industry experience preferred
- GMP Practices, Sanitary Design, and OSHA regulations knowledge is highly preferred
