SR MOLD DESIGNER

Job Summary
Senior Mold Designer develops complex mold designs from product models and drawings, designs and documents mold components in SolidWorks, and interfaces with Product Design Engineers to ensure manufacturability (DFM). Responsible for enacting mold design standards, organizing drawings and BOMs, mentoring junior personnel, and estimating design, build, delivery, and piece-part costs per JST cost programs. Leads collaboration with global JST facilities; travels as required for project alignment and cross-training. Actively supports mold build, fitting, and conditioning phases on the shop floor and works with mold processors to diagnose and resolve molding issues during production and sampling. Demonstrates consideration of manufacturing cost, quality requirements, volumes, and tool-room support capabilities; serves as primary backup for Molding Supervisor when not on location.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Associate Degree in a technical field and/or equivalent practical experience (BS in Mechanical/Plastics Engineering preferred).
- 10+ years minimum computer drafting and practical experience in Mold Design.
- Solid Works experience preferred.
- General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Google Workspace, etc.).
