Job Summary

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and advanced diagnostics on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and road test vehicles to ensure proper operation while independently managing parts inventory and equipment on the service truck. Document all findings, repairs, and parts used on Repair Orders via the TRAIT application and complete DOT forms accurately. Work weekends on a variable five-day schedule with 100% travel time. Maintain company safety policies and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards. Obtain parts from approved vendors and communicate with management for repair estimate approvals.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years' experience in a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
  • Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening
  • Candidate must successfully complete and pass a DOT physical
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration
  • If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years or older
  • Safe drivers needed
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
  • ASE 608/609 certification
  • Must be able to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
  • Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be available for a five day work schedule including Sat & Sun
  • Must be able to work remotely but live in the specified city, state, or region
  • Must be able to travel 100% of the time
  • Must be able to work variable shifts
  • Must be able to work in a mobile/field environment
  • Must be able to work with and listen effectively to clients and customers
  • Must be able to manage concurrent assigned tasks

  • Must be able to conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections
  • Must be able to document according to company standards
  • Must be able to upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders
  • Must be able to accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation
  • Must be able to obtain approvals on repair estimates
  • Must be able to retrieve purchase order numbers
  • Must be able to discuss RO findings notes
  • Must be able to use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks
  • Must be able to use test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges
  • Must be able to road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions
  • Must be able to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information
  • Must be able to generate and evaluate alternatives
  • Must be able to independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck
  • Must be able to perform periodic reconciliation
  • Must be able to maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle
  • Must be able to conduct pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle
  • Must be able to perform Preventative Maintenance inspections
  • Must be able to perform light and advanced repairs
  • Must be able to perform advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics
  • Must be able to perform licensed DOT inspections
  • Must be able to perform follow up repairs
  • Must be able to diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment
  • Must be able to work on Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems
  • Must be able to work on Starters/Alternators
  • Must be able to work on Fan clutches
  • Must be able to work on Engine electronics
  • Must be able to work on Diesel steering systems
  • Must be able to work on Engines (gas and diesel)
  • Must be able to work on Transmissions (manual and automatic)
  • Must be able to work on Clutches
  • Must be able to work on Differentials
  • Must be able to work on Air conditioning systems
  • Must be able to use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives
  • Must be able to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
  • Must be able to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations
  • Must be able to make effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations
  • Must be able to use company-issued iOS device
  • Must be able to use our proprietary TRAIT application
  • Must be able to work in compliance with DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations

Desired Qualifications

  • Any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline
  • OEM training and certifications
  • ASE L2 Preferred but not required
  • ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) certification

  • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
  • ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
