Job Summary

Manage scheduling for all bus and rail service to ensure on-time performance and cost efficiency. Oversee vehicle blocking, runcutting processes, and staff development for schedule analysts. Direct the implementation and daily use of computer scheduling software systems to develop bus and rail schedules and operator rosters. Produce scheduling databases, operator route guides, and detailed operating instructions. Analyze existing schedules to meet reliability and efficiency objectives while managing project budgets and timelines. Make modifications to support new routes and services. Prepare technical reports, present project performance to management, and evaluate staff compliance with work programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning/Engineering, Public Administration, Business or a related field
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in transit operations and scheduling
  • at least three (3) years of experience supervising transit scheduling personnel
  • Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen
  • Knowledge of budget development/analysis
  • operational cost factors
  • Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications
  • Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex interpersonal, technical and administrative problems
  • Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Ability to step up to conflicts, seeing them as opportunities
  • Ability to read complex materials such as technical manuals and engineering blueprints
  • Ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects
  • Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Ability to read complex materials such as technical manuals and engineering blueprints, and concentrate on details when developing employee performance plans, developing and monitoring division budget, or directing and overseeing project engineering activities
