Job Summary
Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist – Blood Bank (Night shift) performs routine and special tests, coordinates implementation of new procedures, and assumes supervisory responsibilities within the Blood Bank section to ensure reliable patient testing and timely services. The role monitors Performance Improvement/Quality Control activities, maintains compliance with accrediting/regulatory standards, protects patient confidentiality, and supports the supervisor/Pathologist. Requires a Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field, 4 years of relevant lab experience, and current state license plus ASCP/AMT/AAB certification with Maintenance as applicable. Proficient with data entry, Windows applications, and laboratory software; strong communication, teamwork, and ability to work in a regulated healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- 4 years experience (one year of which is in the appropriate clinical lab section) in appropriate clinical lab under a qualified Director
- Current license in the state of practice (if applicable)
- ASCP, AMT or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist
- Incumbents certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004 must successfully complete the ASCP Certification Maintenance Program
