Sr. Mechanical Technician

Job Summary

Assemble, fabricate, modify, and maintain prototype hardware and experimental mechanical systems supporting Quaise's research and development programs. Build, integrate, and troubleshoot assemblies for millimeter wave drilling technologies, including waveguides, gyrotrons, power supplies, pumps, and compressors. Read engineering drawings and collaborate with scientists to rapidly prototype and refine designs. Conduct laboratory testing, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance to maximize research uptime. Assist with workspace organization, equipment installation, and vendor coordination. Maintain accurate documentation of builds and testing activities while ensuring safe laboratory operations. Participate in field demonstrations and technology validation as research programs advance.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a mechanical technician role
  • Experience supporting prototype development, laboratory research, advanced manufacturing, or new product development environments
  • Certification in mechanical systems or related areas
  • OSHA or other workplace safety certifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools
  • Proficiency using machine shop equipment
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments
  • Proficiency using manual mills
  • Proficiency using lathes
  • Proficiency using drill presses
  • Proficiency using forklifts
  • Proficiency using overhead cranes
  • Proficiency in welding techniques

  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical systems
