Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer to own electromechanical systems end-to-end from concept through production for Space Resources (ISRU) under Blue Origin. On-site at Los Angeles facility, responsible for design and integration of complex electromechanical assemblies for extreme thermal, dynamic, and pressure environments, leading technical reviews, partnering with thermal/systems leads, performing thermal/structural/tolerance analyses, developing 3D models, production drawings, and design specifications, and mentoring the engineering team while balancing technical risk and schedule. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and leadership; experience with ceramics, exotic metals, and vacuum/inert gas environments; proficiency with CAD/FEA tools and GD&T; ability to communicate complex challenges and retire risks through hardware testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing
- 2+ years of hands-on project leadership experience with complex mechanical systems
- Proficient with CAD and FEA software packages (thermal, structural, and advanced nonlinear analyses)
- Strong capability in hand calculations and computer-aided design
- Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Experience designing thermal components for extreme temperature environments and thermal analysis
- Experience in vacuum and/or inert gas environments and knowledge of advanced materials (ceramics, exotic metals, specialty alloys)
- Excellent technical communication skills; able to articulate complex engineering challenges and solutions to wide audiences
- Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers while elevating overall team capability
