Job Summary
Sr. Mechanical Engineer to function as a Project Manager, designing large-scale cooling systems (including equipment selection, calculations, and coordination with clients/engineers). Responsibilities include Project Management of lifecycle, Technical Design and cooling/heat-load calculations for central energy plants, Coordination with clients/architects/electrical engineers/contractors, QA/compliance with building codes, assisting in construction documents, and maintaining client relationships through progress updates. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 6+ years of HVAC/central plant experience, AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling, knowledge of DOB and NYC Building processes, construction administration experience, strong communication, and building-systems knowledge. Located within 50 miles of NYC; role based in Manhattan with site work, occasional travel to customer sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline
- 6+ years of experience with HVAC projects including central plants
- Ability to navigate a mechanical room and perform field surveys of piping systems
- Experience performing basic engineering calculations and AutoCAD; 3D modeling software preferred
- Working knowledge of DOB now and NYC Department of Buildings processes and requirements
- Experience assisting with construction administration and project management
- Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written
- Technical expertise in basic building systems knowledge
- Must be located within 50 miles of New York City
