Job Summary
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will spearhead the design and development of innovative hearing aids and devices, ensuring they meet stringent performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost criteria. Responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, generating performance requirements, designing new products, integrating new technologies, specifying materials, and conducting design verification and validation tests. The role requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to mentor others. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with relevant experience in product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 7 years’ experience
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years’ experience
- PhD Mechanical Engineering with 2 years' experience
- Proficiency in ProE preferred
- Proven ability to perform complex engineering analysis and calculations required
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in product development in hearing or medical device industry
- Advanced knowledge of injection molding processing and tooling
- Advanced knowledge of materials and processes used to manufacture injection molded plastic, stamped metal, and elastomeric components
- Advanced knowledge of product development best practices (DFM, DOE, DFMEA, Lean PD)
- Intermediate knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Intermediate understanding of acoustics and vibration
- Intermediate understanding and experience with various pieces of test equipment
