Job Summary
Conceive, design, develop, and analyze new and improved hollow metal products while reducing cost and increasing robustness. Lead project tasks to meet time and cost targets, making design trade-offs for optimal performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to source components and support manufacturing processes. Execute product test development and participate in engineering projects across Southern CA sites. Communicate project status through reports and design reviews.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in new product development
- Proficiency with engineering tools including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFM/DFA
- Understanding of Hollow Metal Doors & Frames manufacturing processes, including: Sheet Metal Fabrication (Cutting & Punching), Roll Forming & Press Brakes, Core Bonding & Pressing, Welding & Assembly, Hardware Preparation & Integration, Finishing & Paint Systems, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Ability to perform structural and motion calculations and identify appropriate materials, processes, and designs
Desired Qualifications
- CAD modeling and drafting proficiency, SolidWorks
- Design for Six Sigma proficiency
