Job Summary
Lead HVAC and plumbing system design for DoD and Mission Critical Facility projects, including shop drawing reviews, RFI management, and contractor change order analysis. Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and equipment status while assessing alternative design approaches with senior team members. Organize project plans to ensure quality controls, budget adherence, and client presentation of proposals. Mentor junior staff within the Mechanical Department and interact with diverse clients and subcontractors. Requires U.S. citizenship for federal contract security, with a preference for NAVFAC, USACE, or DOD experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering Program
- 6+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to interact with others on a multi-discipline team
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to present designs to clients
- Good time management skills, a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Proficient in Building Load Calculation and Energy Modeling
- Proficient in the design of plumbing systems including sanitary, storm, and water distribution systems
- Excellent Communications Skills with the ability to present designs to clients
- Experience with Design-Build and other Alternate Delivery practices
- Experience with Instrumentation and Controls design
- Federal experience; NAVFAC, USACE, VAMC, DOD or USAF experience
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
- Energy Modeling experience a plus
- Cost estimating experience a plus
- Additional Industry Certifications such as LEED AP, CxA or CEM
