Job Summary
Conduct detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components and apply engineering techniques to design, analyze, and test engines and machinery. Read blueprints and schematics to evaluate customer design proposals, then specify system components or direct product modifications to ensure conformance with performance specifications. Investigate equipment failures to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations for maintenance crews while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and interfacing with customers. This full-time 9/80 schedule role includes up to 25% travel and is available remotely or at Huntsville, AL, or Hampton, AR facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
- Engineering degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
- May need to stand for long periods of time
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
- Up to 25% travel likely
