Job Summary

Develop complete product designs and strategies, lead cost reduction initiatives, and act as principal engineer on complex mechanical assemblies from initial concepts. Formulate original ideas without assistance, select materials and heat treat processes, and establish manufacturing procedures including tooling design and inspection methods. Design product testing methods, direct testing efforts, and present organized written results. Apply advanced engineering and technical analysis to product design and problem solving, while using CAD and solid modeling software at an expert level to generate complex layouts and part details. Check and approve drawings of others, initiate production runs, coordinate manufacturing engineers and assemblers, and assist the Service Department in solving customer problems. Provide formal training of service personnel and produce technical reference data for marketing, manufacturing, and support media. Work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate company activities related to product development.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading projects
  • 0-5% Travel Required
  • Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA from a four-year college or university
  • Mechanical Engineering major
  • 8+ years experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex business, government and technical documents in English
  • Advanced understanding of mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and/or calculus
  • Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking as well as work with a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.
