Job Summary

Sr. Materials Engineer leads data quality and integrity across the Materials Lab, develops and qualifications new test processes, trains lab personnel on fundamental principles, performs root-cause analysis on anomalous data, conducts failure analysis to guide material selection and design improvements, and drives process development and capability expansion across Thermal, Characterization, Chemistry, Reliability, Mechanical Testing, and R&D areas, while managing multiple projects and collaborating with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver high-value, actionable materials data for SpaceX hardware programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of professional experience as an engineer in a materials testing or characterization laboratory
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of mechanical testing, thermal analysis, or materials characterization techniques

Additional Requirements

  • ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
