Job Summary
Lead the Transportation department by achieving safety, service, and cost targets while championing a safety-first culture for associates, customers, and the public. Oversee and develop Transportation Managers and drivers through coaching, performance reviews, and retention strategies, ensuring accurate and timely outbound shipments. Monitor production goals, analyze daily performance measures, and troubleshoot delivery problems to optimize flow processes and reduce waste. Interpret DOT regulations and collective bargaining agreements, direct managers on cost-effective solutions, and build high-performing teams by managing staffing and hiring. Spend time in the office and with drivers, requiring 10% travel for meetings and training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in transportation/delivery supervision
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills
- Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company
- Strong understanding of DOT, inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- High school diploma or GED
- 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training
