Job Summary
Establish and maintain corporate sanitation standards, procedures, and governance systems across dairy, bakery, beverage, sauce, and ready-to-eat manufacturing operations. Provide technical leadership for wet and dry sanitation, clean-in-place, allergen changeover, and hygienic zoning programs while evaluating effectiveness through plant assessments, environmental monitoring, and audit results. Oversee national sanitation chemical and pest control programs, manage supplier performance, and drive accountability for corrective actions. Support regulatory, customer, and third-party audits by ensuring programs are properly documented and consistently executed. Partner with Quality Assurance, Operations, Engineering, and plant leadership to assure sanitation programs support food safety and operational readiness. Deliver sanitation training and capability-building programs for plant teams. This role requires 10–12+ years of progressive experience in food manufacturing, with 50–75% travel and after-hours/third shift work. Located in Boise, ID or Pleasanton, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science/Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Science, Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Public Health or related field
- 10–12 plus years of progressive experience in sanitation, food safety, quality assurance, microbiology, or technical services within food, beverage, dairy, bakery, or ready-to-eat manufacturing
- Demonstrated expertise in sanitation program design, SSOPs, Master Sanitation Schedules, chemical sanitation systems, environmental monitoring, allergen control, hygienic zoning, and pest management
- Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA, FSMA Preventive Controls, HACCP, GMPs, PMO (as applicable), and GFSI-benchmarked standards
- Experience validating sanitation effectiveness through verification, validation, microbiological data, pre-operational inspections, environmental monitoring, and corrective action systems
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence plant leadership, manage supplier performance, and drive standardization across sites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing, presenting findings, and driving action plans across all levels of the organization
- Direct experience managing sanitation chemical suppliers, pest control providers, or other technical service vendors
- Experience in dairy processing, frozen desserts, bakery, beverage, acidified foods, pasta sauces, or ready-to-eat soup manufacturing
- Experience supporting sanitation programs across a multi-site manufacturing network
- 50-75% travel

Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Dairy Science, or a related discipline
- Expertise in CIP validation, dry sanitation practices, environmental monitoring programs, allergen changeover validation, and sanitary equipment design reviews
- Relevant certifications or training (e.g., Preventive Controls, HACCP, SQF/BRCGS, sanitary design, pest management)
- Experience supporting sanitation programs across a multi-site manufacturing network
- Direct experience managing sanitation chemical suppliers, pest control providers, or other technical service vendors
- Experience in dairy processing, frozen desserts, bakery, beverage, acidified foods, pasta sauces, or ready-to-eat soup manufacturing
